Review and synchronize the catalog

Discover your Shopify catalog, review the summary and start a manual synchronization, then check a first product.

Documentation for Fy2Press 1.0.0. The free plugin is available on WordPress.org. PRO is sold separately through Freemius, our licensing and payment provider.

In three steps

  1. Start catalog discovery in Fy2Press → Products and review the summary.
  2. Prepare visibility, then start the manual synchronization.
  3. Compare a first synchronized product with Shopify.

This guide describes Fy2Press 1.0.0. Screens can change in later versions, so check the version shown on the Plugins screen before you follow it.

Expected result

Your Shopify products, collections and product tags are saved in WordPress after a manual synchronization, and you have checked a first product against Shopify. New product pages are published directly, so their visibility was prepared beforehand.

Discover your Shopify catalog, review the summary and start a manual synchronization, then check a first product.

Before you begin

  • A connected store, as described in the connection guide.
  • A decision on which products may become public, because new product pages are published directly.
  • A backup or a staging site when you change an existing website.
  • A few products you know well, to compare with Shopify.

Plan a way back before you start: a backup or a staging copy, the Shopify product you will compare with, and the WordPress page that should show the result. Start with a small test that you can repeat.

What this covers

In FREE, you start each synchronization manually, and saved records stay as they are until the next one. Discovery resumes by batches, but a write phase interrupted midway is not resumed. A later synchronization can reapply Shopify titles and slugs. PRO adds an option to schedule synchronization with an active licence; scheduled runs are not instant and the option is still completing its launch testing.

Remember who does what: Shopify keeps products, inventory, orders, payments and checkout; Fy2Press brings the catalog into WordPress and displays it; WordPress hosts your pages and editorial content. Nothing in this guide moves orders, customers or payments to WordPress.

Steps

  1. Open Fy2Press → Products and start catalog discovery.
  2. Review the summary: the expected numbers of products, collections and tags.
  3. Prepare visibility and SEO settings, then start the synchronization and wait for a clear success or error message.
  4. Open a synchronized product in WordPress and compare its title, variants, price and availability with Shopify.
  5. After you change products in Shopify, run the synchronization again to refresh WordPress.

Review the result before you share a page publicly. A success message is a good sign, but the public page and the Shopify buying path must agree too.

Check the result

  • Products, collections and tags appear in WordPress with the expected counts.
  • A product page shows the right variants, price and image.
  • A second synchronization updates the same records instead of creating duplicates.

Check the result where visitors will see it: open the public WordPress page, not only the Fy2Press screen, and compare a representative product with Shopify, including its price, availability, variants and collection. Repeat a small change once to confirm that the behaviour is stable.

Common problems

  • Fewer products than expected: check that the products are available to the Headless sales channel and that the token can read the catalog.
  • Discovery stops: keep the message and read the troubleshooting guide before you start a large operation again.
  • A product disappeared: it may have been removed or made unavailable in Shopify, so check its status before you conclude that it is lost.

When something unexpected happens, stop large operations and try again with one product and one page. Keep the exact error message before you change settings or clear caches.

Troubleshooting

  1. Confirm the plugin version and edition (FREE or PRO).
  2. Reproduce the problem with one test product.
  3. Decide whether the issue comes from Shopify, Fy2Press or your WordPress theme.
  4. Compare the result with what your edition includes, as described in the edition guide.
  5. Restore your test setup, try once more and note whether the result repeats.

Security and data

Synchronization copies catalog data only: products, collections, tags and image references. It does not import customers, orders or payments.

If you ask for help, note the plugin version, the WordPress and PHP versions, your theme or page builder, the page address and the steps you followed. Use test products, and remove tokens, customer data, order details and private addresses from screenshots before sharing them.

New product, collection and tag pages can be indexed and listed in sitemaps. Set indexing and the preferred product address in Google and SEO before the first synchronization on a public site.

Keep the system boundary visible

Shopify remains the commerce source; Fy2Press moves catalog records and rendering contracts; WordPress owns publication.

Verify before moving on

  • Confirm the result in WordPress, not only in the Fy2Press interface.
  • Keep cart and checkout on Shopify.
  • Record the installed version when reporting a defect.
